His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday emphasised the need for practical steps to boost Jordanian-Romanian cooperation in a manner that reflects the high level of relations between the two countries.
The King made the remarks during a meeting with Romania's Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi, who delivered a letter from Romanian President Traian Basescu to King Abdullah.
The letter addressed Jordanian-Romanian relations, especially economic and commercial ties, and the latest developments in the region.
The King also expressed appreciation to Romania for Jordan supporting Jordan's successful bid for advanced status with the EU, which is expected to broaden cooperation prospects between Jordan and Romania.
Baconschi said the Romanian president is committed to developing bilateral relations by following up on official meetings in preparation for a planned summit meeting between King Abdullah and Basescu.
On the latest regional developments, King Abdullah stressed the important role of the EU in eliminating obstacles to the peace process and chances to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, on the basis of the two-state solution.
King Abdullah emphasised the need for immediate action towards serious and effective Palestinian-Israeli negotiations that address final status issues, including the issues of borders and refugees.
