His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with AES Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Paul Hanrahan and an accompanying delegation and discussed cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in the field of electricity generation to meet the Kingdom's increasing demand on power.

Hanrahan said AES is ready to increase its investments in the country to benefit from the investment environment and the various available opportunities in the field of energy.

In November last year, the King inaugurated the $300 million Amman East Power Project, which was built by AES Jordan PSC, a company owned by a consortium of AES Oasis Ltd. and Mitsui and Co. Ltd from Japan.

The company operates in 29 locations to generate electricity in different parts of the world.
