His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday received a phone call from US President Barack Obama during which the two leaders discussed the latest Middle East developments, particularly efforts to overcome obstacles facing the launch of serious and effective Palestinian-Israeli negotiations on the basis of the two-state solution.
During the phone conversation, His Majesty reiterated the importance of the US role in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict which constitutes a priority towards realising comprehensive peace in the region.
The King stressed the need to intensify efforts to launch negotiations that can lead to significant progress towards a two-state solution which enjoys international consensus, within a clear action plan and a set timeline that would result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living side by side in peace and security with Israel.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral ties and ways to develop cooperation in various fields in order to serve both countries' interests.
