King Receives a Phone Call from American President

US President Geroge Bush affirmed, in a phone call with His Majesty King Abdullah II on Saturday, his full support for the roadmap plan and the Keenness of USA on implementing it in a way that leads to concluding peace between the Palestinians and Israelis.



He said that the US will continue to work with all parties to implement the roadmap which provides for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state by 2005.



President Bush condemned the terrorist act on the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad which claimed the lives of 17 Iraqis, affirming the US's support and solidarity with Jordan towards such cowardly act. "This hideous act is a crime and that the US troops in Iraq are conducting investigations to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice," he added.



The King expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the US president for his personal commitment to achieve peace in the region through his supporting for implementing the roadmap. He affirmed that the role of the USA is important and vital to resume peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis.



His Majesty also received two phone calls from His Majesty King Hamad Ben Issa Al Khalifeh of Bahrain and Secretary General of the UN Kofi Anan in which they condemned the criminal act on the Jordanian embassy in Baghdad.



The King voiced his appreciation for King Hamad and the secretary general for their noble feelings, stressing that Jordan will pursue fighting all forms of terrorism.
