King Receives Patriarch of Antakia and the East

His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Monday, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I, Patriarch of Antakia and the East, and Head of the Syriac Orthodox Church in the World, currently on a visit to the Kingdom to strengthen cooperation between Jordan and the Syriac Patriarchate.

His Majesty affirmed, during the meeting which was attended by Hashemite Royal Court Minister, Sameer Rifai, Jordan's keenness to promote ties of cooperation with followers of the Syriac Church. The King also noted the importance of Islamic-Christian coexistence in Jordan, which sets a model for relations among followers of the two religions.

The patriarch for his part expressed pride and appreciation for the role of the Hashemites in enhancing the values of tolerance, coexistence and fraternity among Muslims and Christians." Jordan has always been appreciated by all for the policies of tolerance and fraternity," he added.
