King receives OIC secretary general

His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday met with Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, secretary general of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), who is in Jordan to take part in the Fifth Jordanian Ambassadors Forum.

During the meeting, King Abdullah underlined the important role of the OIC in defending Islamic causes and the true image of Islam that is based on moderation.

The King also commended the OIC's efforts to enhance cooperation among Muslim countries and stressed Jordan's support for the OIC in its work to protect and defend Islamic interests and issues.

Discussions also covered developments in the Middle East and efforts to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution within a regional context.

Ihsanoglu briefed the King on the OIC's priorities and efforts to enhance joint Islamic action.
