His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday received a letter from Public Security Department Director Major General Hussein Majali in which he pledged that the police force will safeguard citizens' rights and enforce the rule of law.

Expressing gratitude for King Abdullah's confidence in him, the newly appointed police chief said the PSD will draw up a work strategy to forge ahead with the development and modernisation of the various security areas to combat crime and preserve the country's security and public safety while observing the ethics of the police job. The strategy will also be based on full respect for citizens and their rights.
