His Majesty King Abdullah on Thursday received the annual report on the work of the judicial authority during 2012.
At a meeting with King Abdullah, Judicial Council President Hisham Tal presented the report, which recommended that amendments be introduced to various laws to ensure the independence of the judiciary.
His Majesty commended the role of the judiciary in entrenching justice, combating all forms of corruption and protecting society.
According to the report, the judiciary settled around 93% of the cases filed in 2012, totalling more than 510,000 cases.
The number of judges increased by around 21%, reaching 911 judges in 2012, from 754 judges in 2009.
The meeting was attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and His Majesty’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury.
