King Receives IMF managing director

His Majesty King Abdullah received on Sunday International Monetary Fund Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is currently visiting Jordan.

During the meeting, King Abdullah and Strauss-Kahn discussed aspects of cooperation between Jordan and the IMF, economic conditions prevailing in the region and implications of global financial crisis on its countries.

The King said Jordan had applied monetary policies to minimise the repercussions of the global crisis on the national economy.

He also reviewed plans and major projects that Jordan is implementing in various vital sectors to accelerate economic growth and improve the investment environment in the Kingdom.

Strauss-Kahn highlighted challenges and key issues facing the global economy and policies adopted by the IMF to deal with these issues.

He also briefed the King on the objectives of the fund's initiative to communicate with youth in the Middle East, identify their vision of the economic future and motivate them to consider policy measures needed to achieve sustainable economic growth in the region.

The King's meeting with the IMF official was also attended by Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi and Central Bank Governor Dr. Umayya Toukan.
