His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday discussed with Hungary's Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi efforts to overcome obstacles hampering the peace process and the role of the European Union in this regard.
During the meeting with the Hungarian official, whose country will assume the rotating presidency of the European Union in January, King Abdullah underscored the importance of the European drive to restart direct peace negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis.
King Abdullah emphasised that the negotiations should deal with all final status issues, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and in a way that leads to the implementation of the two-state solution, stressing that this is the sole means to achieve regional security and stability.
He also stressed that Israel must stop all unilateral measures that impede peace efforts, especially settlement building.
During the meeting, the King also discussed with the Hungarian foreign minister Jordanian-Hungarian relations and means to develop them, especially as Jordan attained advanced status with the EU at the end of last month.
