His Majesty King Abdullah received cables of good wishes from Arab and world leaders as Jordan celebrated its 63rd independence anniversary.

Cables coming in to the Royal Court from leaders of Arab, Islamic and world nations hailed King Abdullah's national achievements and his role in forging deeper cooperation and friendship with various world countries.

They also lauded the enormous efforts exerted by the King to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

Other congratulatory cables also came in from Prime Minister Nader Dahabi, the Senate President Zeid Rifai, Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Abdul Hadi Majali, the head of the Judicial Council, the Chief Justice, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and heads of security bodies and public figures.

Local leaders expressed pride in national independence, which they noted was a historical turning achieved through the wisdom and courage of the Hashemites. They paid tribute to the Hashemites for their struggle throughout Arab history to achieve Arab unity and stand for just Arab causes.

"Today, 63 years ago, the march heralding freedom set off across the homeland at the behest of the late King Abdullah Ibn Al Hussein, who laid the foundations of the modern state of Jordan," they said.

"Today, Jordan, thanks to your wise leadership, is fully capable of facing up to future challenges," they noted.

The well-wishers expressed hope that Jordan would achieve the King's vision of progress and comprehensive development.
