King receives former Iraqi prime minister

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received former Iraqi prime minister and president of the Iraqiya bloc Ayad Allawi.

Discussions covered a number of issues of mutual concern, in addition to the latest developments in the Iraqi political arena.

During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed the importance of forming an Iraqi government that can achieve Iraqi aspirations for a better future and enhance Iraq's unity and sovereignty. He also highlighted Jordan's commitment to achieving reconciliation among the “brotherly Iraqis”.

He reiterated the Kingdom's full support for all efforts to build peace and stability in Iraq, describing the country as a major pillar of the stability and security of the entire region.

Allawi briefed the King on the outcome of his recent tour of several Arab countries and expressed his appreciation for Jordan's support for efforts to enhance Iraq's security and stability and commending the King for his vital regional role.

The meeting was attended by the King's Adviser Ayman Safadi and Director of the General Intelligence Department Lt. General Mohammad Raqqad.
