King Receives Egyptian Prime Minister

His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Thursday Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmad Nazif, who conveyed a message from Egyptian President Muhammad Husni Mubarak to King Abdullah II on bilateral relations and regional developments.



During the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Faisal Fayez and Minister of the Royal Court Samir Rifai, the King stressed his keenness on promoting bilateral ties between Jordan and Egypt, particularly in the economic, trade and transport spheres.



The King affirmed that the Arab gas pipeline project is an important step to support the joint Arab action, calling for speeding up the implementation of this project, which is deemed one of the most important projects in energy field. The project can institutionalize for strong relations between Arab countries, The King noted.



His Majesty also pointed to the vital role of the private sectors in both countries in enhancing ties and achieving accomplishment.



Prime Minister Faisal Fayez reviewed deliberations of the Joint Jordanian- Egyptian Higher Committee's meetings, which started in Amman on Thursday with a view to support bilateral ties.



On his part, Nazif expressed hope that agreements signed between the two countries would be activated, pointing to the importance of increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two sides.



The meeting was attended by a number of Jordanian and Egyptian senior officials.
