King receives Egyptian foreign minister

His Majesty King Abdullah met on Monday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr, for discussions on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region, especially the situation in Syria, the Middle East peace process and political developments in Egypt.

The visiting minister briefed King Abdullah on the latest developments in Egypt, especially the presidential elections, expressing his appreciation for the King’s efforts to strengthen Jordanian-Egyptian relations and support Arab causes.

King Abdullah emphasised the importance of continued coordination and consultations vis-à-vis regional political developments, especially with regard to the situation in Syria and the Middle East peace process.

The two sides reviewed efforts exerted by the UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, to reach a way out of the Syrian crisis and forge ahead with a comprehensive political dialogue process.

The King also emphasised the need to coordinate Arab efforts pertaining to the peace process, to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
