His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday received Czech Republic Senate President Premysl Sobotka to explore means to boost Jordanian-Czech relations.
During the meeting, King Abdullah was briefed by Sobotka and acting Senate President Fayez Tarawneh on cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.
Referring to Monday's Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla, the King stressed the need for effective international action to end the suffering of the Palestinian people by ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on Palestinian national soil.
The King also met with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle and discussed means to build stronger relations with EU countries.
During the meeting, attended by Royal Court Adviser Nasser Lozi, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jafar Hassan and EU Ambassador in Amman Patrick Renauld, King Abdullah highlighted the Kingdom's programmes to achieve sustainable development in various sectors. He also expressed appreciation for the EU's support for the programmes.
King Abdullah also met with European People's Party President Wilfried Martens and discussed steps to activate cooperation between Jordan and the EU as well as regional developments.
