King receives Chinese FM

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday said Jordan is keen on strengthening economic and political ties with China which, he said, plays a constructive and important role in Middle Eastern Affairs.



During a meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, King Abdullah discussed prospects for joint development projects undertaken by the Chinese and Jordanian business communities.



The King called for the formation of a joint committee to arrive at a mechanism to bolster economic, commercial and political cooperation.



His Majesty referred to the Amman Message launched last year, describing it as representing the true image of Islam, a faith that advocates tolerance and moderation.



Referring to the Middle East issue and peace efforts, King Abdullah underlined the importance of the roadmap peace plan for settling the Arab-Israeli conflict.



The King and the Chinese minister reviewed efforts for reestablishing stability and security in Iraq and ongoing efforts to reform the UN.



Li voiced China's appreciation of the King's endeavours to modernize Jordan and his efforts towards establishing peace in Palestine and Iraq.



He said China was keen to strengthen ties with Jordan in all fields.
