His Majesty King Abdullah discussed on Sunday with visiting Canadian Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy and prospects of signing a free trade agreement.
At a meeting on Sunday, King Abdullah and the Canadian official discussed means to enhance bilateral ties, especially with regard to benefiting from Canadian expertise in the field of economic development.
The King said he appreciated Canada's support of the Kingdom in its latest discussions with the Paris Club to purchase part of its debts.
The King's talks with Flaherty also covered international efforts to push forward the peace process in the Middle East, in addition to the situation in the region.
In this regard, King Abdullah stressed the importance of Canada's role in realizing peace and stability in the region.
