His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received a number of British eye surgeons and physicians, who are currently on a visit to the Kingdom to look into means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the field of eye surgery and ophthalmology.
During the meeting, King Abdullah commended a decision taken by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow to accredit Jordan as a regional centre for conducting assessment exams for eye surgeons from Asia, Africa and the Middle East to obtain their fellowship from the British college.
The King said Jordan will continue to take all the necessary measures to develop the medical sector, which he said has proven its efficiency and capability over the years and rendered Jordan a regional hub for medical tourism.
The British physicians said that the selection of Jordan for supervising the fellowship exams of the Royal College reflects the high level of confidence in the country's ophthalmic medicine and surgery and the quality of Jordanian medical education institutions, in addition to its achievements over the past two decades.
