King receives Arab League Secretary General

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday said it was important to come up with decisions during the upcoming Arab League Summit that unify the Arab stance on various challenges and activate the joint Arab work.

During a meeting with the Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa, King Abdullah stressed the importance of the Arab Peace Initiative, which he said demonstrates the Arab seriousness to achieve peace with Israel.

His Majesty urged the international community, mainly the United States and the EU, to adopt the initiative as a base for establishing an independent Palestinian state and achieving just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

On Iraq, King Abdullah said the summit should discuss efforts by Arab countries to end the current violence in Iraq and achieve reconciliation among all components of the Iraqi society.

Regarding the situation in Lebanon, the King said supporting the unity of the Lebanese people was necessary to overcome the current political crisis in Lebanon.

Musa briefed His Majesty on efforts being exerted by the Arab League to prepare for the Arab summit and ensure that it would come up with decisions that fulfill the aspirations of Arab peoples.
