His Majesty King Abdullah II received on Thursday General Tommy Franks, Commander in Chief of the US Central Command.

During the meeting, His Majesty affirmed Jordan's determination to purchase an air defence system for the Jordan armed forces to strengthen control over Jordanian airspace and protect it from any foreign intervention.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Lt. General Khaled Sarayreh had earlier met with General Franks in the presence of Commander of the Royal Air Force, His Royal Highness Prince Faisal Ben Al Hussein.

Talks touched on scopes of military and defence cooperation between Jordan and the United States.
