King Reaffirms Jordan's Stand in Support of Iraq

Amman
12 April 2004

His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed
that Jordan will save no effort in helping Iraqi people to overcome
their dilemma and shape their future by themselves.

During a meeting with dignitaries and public figures from Karak
governorate at Raghadan Palace, His Majesty noted that our efforts focused
on helping Iraqis establish their institutions and form their army to
safeguard security and stability in their country and to replace the foreign
forces occupying their land.

His Majesty the King indicated that his projected visit to the
US this week will centre on the Iraqi and Palestinian dossiers, in addition
to bilateral relations.

"Leaving out the Iraqi and Palestinian issues unsettled will
fuel violence, extremism and instability in the entire region" the
King said.

Poverty and unemployment and ways of finding solutions to them
were of his primary concern, said the King, noting that establishing
development projects in all governorates is the responsibility of both
the public and the private sectors.

His Majesty stressed that the government is very serious in combating
nepotism and the parliament should support it in this regard.
During the meeting, attended by Prime Minister, and a number
of cabinet members the King emphasized that the citizens' awareness
and their loyalty to the country as well as alertness of our security
departments have always been the basic elements that help thwart every
attempt plotted to harm stability and security in the country.
