Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Wednesday visited Mabarrat Um Al Hussein, a home for orphaned and underprivileged boys, and spent time with the children being cared for there.

During the visit to the orphanage, established by the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf in 1958, King Abdullah and Queen Rania toured facilities and were briefed on programmes provided to the boys.

Mabarrat Um Al Hussein, the first charitable society established for orphans in Jordan, currently cares for 98 boys between the ages of six and 18, including orphans and victims of broken homes and families, 60 of whom reside at the orphanage. 

During the visit, the King issued directives to provide the orphanage with all its service and educational needs, as well as learning aids and monitoring cameras to improve the quality of its services.

Their Majesties watched the children play sports and toured the orphanage’s computer lab, library, and sports and recreation facilities, where they were briefed by Hanan Gammoh, the general supervisor of the mabarrat, on the educational and training opportunities provided to the orphans. 

The King and Queen spoke with the children, who expressed their happiness at meeting Their Majesties.

During a visit to the Prime Ministry on Sunday, the King urged the government to take all measures necessary to assess orphans’ needs and meet their demands.
