Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Sunday met with delegates from the American political lobby, J Street, who are on a visit to the Kingdom as part of a regional tour.
During the meeting, attended by Royal Court Chief Nasser Lozi and King's Adviser Ayman Safadi, King Abdullah outlined efforts under way to achieve comprehensive peace in the region.
The King stressed the importance of intensifying peace efforts and re-launching serious and effective negotiations to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution; the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living side-by-side with Israel in peace and security.
He warned that the continuation of the status quo will lead to a new cycle of tension and violence in the region.
J Street was formed primarily by Jewish Americans who believe that a two-state solution to the conflict is essential to Israel's survival and security, as well as to fulfilling Palestinian rights. The group advocates a two-state solution within a broader regional, comprehensive peace envisioned by the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
