Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Thursday attended the Jordan River Foundation's (JRF) annual charity event at the King Hussein Convention Centre.
The event's proceeds will be allocated to JRF programmes and projects, particularly those related to community and childhood development. In her address at the event, JRF Director General Valentina Qseisieh voiced the foundation's appreciation of the JRF's supporters of the foundation's programmes to empower local communities and achieve sustainable development.
Qussisiya delivered a presentation detailing the JRF's interaction and partnership with the local community and the positive outcomes of JRF-initiated programmes wouldn't have been achieved without solidarity and generosity of the foundation's supporters.
The JRF, established in 1995 and chaired by Queen Rania, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that seeks to support sustainable social, economic, and cultural programmes based on national priorities and needs. One of its key goals is to empower communities and individuals, as well as protect children and meet their needs.
The total number of direct or indirect beneficiaries from the JRF programmes stands at 200,000, which constitutes five per cent of Jordan's population.
The JRF also plans to launch an endowment to increase number of JRF beneficiaries and promote mechanisms of executing its programmes effectively and efficiently.
Several officials, businesspeople and Arab ambassadors in Amman attended the event.
