King Pursues Efforts to End Heated Tension in Palestinian Areas

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Saturday said Jordan was fully aware of the grave situation in the Palestinian areas in the wake of Israel's continued military siege around President Arafat Headquarters and other Palestinian towns and villages.

In a telephone call with President Arafat, King Abdullah noted Jordan's contacts with various influential powers to find an outlet to the current crisis and to put an end to the deteriorating security and increased military escalation.

President Arafat updated the King with the latest developments in Ramallah as a result of Israel's military operations there including Israeli troops besiege of offices at the presidential headquarters.
