King Presides over Part of Cabinet Session

His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday gave a fresh support to the Prime Minister and members of his government and commended their performance and called for more coordination and cooperation with the parliament to help succeed plans and programs included in the letter of assignment.



While chairing part of a cabinet session, King Abdullah said after winning a vote of confidence by parliament and after the approval of state budget, the focus now should be implementing plans contained in the letter of assignment.



"My basic measure to assess the ministers' performance is their success in implementing plans and programs of their ministries," King Abdullah said.



"There is no one who is far from me or closer to me, all the minister are my ministers and eventually, it is me who supervises the performance of all," the King added.



King Abdullah said he realized the size of pressures on the government but the work should concentrate on implementing the plans and strategies we put forward in Aqaba as soon as possible and within a well defined time frame and a clear and specific mechanism.



Expressing optimism on the performance of the present government, the King said his remarks about every ministry will go to every member of the cabinet to study these remarks and implement them. The King also called government members to work in team spirit and to develop a mechanism for decision making.



It is time to focus on specific sector such as education, services, investment and agriculture, King Abdullah said. In a reply statement, Prime Minister Faisal al-Fayes pledged to continue contacts with the people and listen to their problems and that his government will assess it performance every six month to spot mistakes and correct them.
