The Abdullah Ben Um Maktoum School for the Blind and Visually Impaired on Saturday received a gift of five new buses from His Majesty King Abdullah to serve the institution's 150 students.
The school has been entirely renovated upon the King's directives issued during a visit to the facility in the holy month of Ramadan.
Royal Court Adviser Yousef Issawi, who presented the buses, said His Majesty has also issued directives to build a modern school for the blind.
An 11-dunum plot of land has been designated for the purpose, he said, adding that the construction will begin within the next few months as soon as the designs are ready.
Established in 1969, the school provides boarding facilities for students living outside Amman.
