King Performs Umrah “Minor Pilgrimage”

His Majesty King Abdullah II and his delegation on Tuesday performed Umra or minor pilgrimage at the holiest Muslim grand mosque in Mecca.

In recognition of sacrifices of Jordanian army martyrs, King Abdullah accompanied son of one of the Armed Forces martyrs and a retired military officer to perform Umrah with him.

King Abdullah and the accompanying delegation, will head for Madinah Munawarah to visit tomb of Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, before leaving for Riyadh for talks with King Fahed of Saudi Arabia and Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz.

The King, who is accompanied by a number of Royal family Princes, Prime Minister, Royal Court Chief, the King's Advisor for Islamic Affairs and Awqaf Minister, arrived in Jeddah earlier on the day on a one-day visit to Saudi Arabia. The King's talks in Riyadh focus on bilateral relations and the development of events in the region particularly the situation in the Palestinian areas and the Iraqi issue.
