King performs Umra, holds talks with Saudi monarch

His Majesty King Abdullah and Saudi King Abdullah Ben Abdul Aziz on Sunday discussed bilateral relations and means to develop them.



During a meeting at the Safa palace in Mecca, the two leaders also held talks on developments in the Palestinian territories as well as current efforts to end the escalation of violence between Palestinians and Israelis and resume peace talks.



On Iraq, King Abdullah and the Saudi monarch reiterated their support for all endeavours to ensure the neighbouring country's territorial integrity and unity.



They also discussed the recently released report by UN German prosecutor Detlev Mehlis on the assassination of Lebanon's former premier Rafiq Hariri.



The Jordanian delegation grouped Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal and Prince Hashem, Prime Minister Adnan Badran, Royal Court Chief Faisal Fayez, Deputy Director of National Security and acting Director of the King's Office Marouf Bakhit, the King's Adviser on Tribal Affairs Fawwaz Zaben Abdullah, the King's Adviser Ahmad Hilayel as well as the Kingdom's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Qaftan Majali.



The Saudi monarch held an iftar banquet for King Abdullah and the delegation. Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora attended the iftar.



Earlier in the day, King Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Rania performed the Umra (lesser pilgrimage) in the Holy City.
