King patronises celebration on Karameh Battle anniversary

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Wednesday attended in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, an Armed Forces celebration to mark the 44th anniversary of Al Karameh Battle.

Upon arrival at the Martyr's Memorial in the Southern Shuneh district in the Jordan Valley, the King was received by a number of Royal Family members, the prime minister, Senate president, Lower House speaker, president of the Judicial Council, Royal Court Chief, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the directors of the Public Security, Gendarmerie and Civil Defense Departments as well as other senior military and government officials.

His Majesty reviewed a guard of honour, laid a wreath at the monument and recited verses from the Holy Quran. In addition, His Majesty reviewed the pictures and names of martyrs inscribed on the monument and the flags of the military units that fought in the 1968 battle.
