King opens talks with Polish President

His Majesty King Abdullah II held two rounds of talks with Polish President Alexsander Kwasiewski focusing on bilateral relations and the situation in the region particularly in Palestine and Iraq.



King Abdullah, who is visiting Poland for the visit since coming to power, expressed his happiness over this visit marking the two countries' celebration of the 40th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.



"We are working together to create a safer and more stable world," King Abdullah said.


The King, who invited the Polish President to visit Jordan for further talks on areas of cooperation, said "it is high time for the international community to move forward to realize peace in Palestine based on establishing two states living side by side in peace and security."



"This is the most appropriate solution," the King added affirming that without establishing a viable and independent Palestinian state, peace and stability in the region would never achieved.



The two leaders also affirmed that Israel's plan to withdraw from Gaza Strip should be the first step for implementing the roadmap peace plan and should be followed by withdrawal from the occupied West Bank in a way that secure the establishment of a viable and independent Palestinian state.



The talks covered means of bolstering bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural and military domains where the King stressed the importance of Poland's entry into the European Union to back projects put forward by the Euro-Jordanian Partnership Agreement.



King Abdullah welcomed the President Kwasiewski's idea to set up a joint Jordanian-Polish business council. To that end a Polish business delegation will visit Jordan next November to discuss this issue together with other topics on cooperation with the Jordanian private sector.



The King urged Polish business community to launch investment ventures in Jordan and benefit from free trade agreements Jordan has concluded with several world countries particularly the United States.



For his part, Polish President paid tribute to Jordan's wise policy under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who, he said is following a clear policy towards the Palestinian and Iraqi issues and international terrorism.



King Abdullah, accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Warsaw earlier on the day on a visit to Poland that will be followed by a visit to the Russian Federation.



The King had another meeting with Polish Prime Minister Marek Belka. Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral cooperation in economic, cultural and tourist fields where King Abdullah asserted his full support to Polish businessmen interested to invest in Jordan.
