King opens SOFEX 2016

His Majesty King Abdullah, Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), Tuesday inaugurated the11th Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) 2016.

King Abdullah was received by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of SOFEX Supreme Steering Committee, King’s Military Adviser and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), Atef Al Tal and SOFEX Director General Amer Tabbaa.

Upon arrival, an artillery unit fired a 21-gun salute welcoming His Majesty and the national anthem was played.

This year’s niche exhibition, which coincides with the Kingdom’s celebrations of the Centennial of the Great Arab Revolt, is the world’s leading event in the field special operations and homeland security in the Middle East and North Africa.

During the three-day fair, more than 380 companies from 37 countries will showcase their latest equipment used in peacekeeping forces, special operations related to homeland security.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of their Royal Highnesses, Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Senate President, Lower House Speaker, President of the Judicial Council, Royal Hashemite Court Chief, King’s Office Director, a number of ministers and heads of security departments.

The event was also attended by heads of the participating delegations from different world countries, ambassadors and military attaches, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Kingdom as well as a number of senior military and civic officials.
