His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Tuesday attended the inauguration of the eighth international conference of the Royal Medical Services (RMS).

 

The several-day conference, being held at the King Hussein Convention Centre at the Dead Sea, is an opportunity to shed light on the latest medical advancements, improving the expertise of personnel in the sector.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, RMS Director General Maj. Gen. Muin Habashneh said the RMS has embarked on preparing a plan to increase the bed capacity of the King Hussein Medical Centre (KHMC).

 

In the presence of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, Habashneh added that RMS has always offered assistance in conflict zones, through its participation in international peacekeeping forces in 31 countries.

 

More than 5,000 participants, representing local, regional and international health sectors, are taking part in the conference, which features 93 lecturers from 54 countries and 144 lecturers from local medical institutions, he noted.

 

There will be several medical symposiums within the conference, one of which will be on medical cooperation with Royal British medical colleges, said Habashneh, adding that there will also be 57 medical workshops.

 

On the sidelines of the conference, King Abdullah opened a medical exhibition featuring products by 73 companies. The exhibition showcases modern medical equipment and the latest technological inventions in the sector.

 

On the conference’s fourth day, a military medical exhibition will be held at the KHMC to acquaint participating delegations with the level RMS has achieved in providing medical services at field hospitals.

 

Royal Family members, senior officials and officers, military attaches and heads of participating delegations also attended the inauguration ceremony.
