Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Sunday met with Montenegro President Filip Vujanovic and his spouse, who are on an official visit to the Kingdom.

The King voiced hope that the visit would contribute to forming a strong relationship between Jordan and Montenegro, stressing the importance of seizing available opportunities for cooperation, especially in the areas of agriculture, economy, tourism and expertise exchange.

His Majesty called for identifying areas of mutual concern, particularly in the economic field, expressing Jordan’s interest in benefiting from the Montenegrin experience in realising growth in many areas.

The King also congratulated Vujanovic on his re-election as president.

For his part, the Montenegrin president noted that two cooperation agreements will be signed between both countries’ chambers of commerce during his visit, which will also witness the establishment of a cooperation framework in the technical and economic areas, especially in agriculture.

Vujanovic called for encouraging business partnerships between companies in the two countries.

Talks during the meeting also covered efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East.

His Majesty stressed that resolving the Palestinian cause is the main guarantee for achieving regional stability, underlining the need to achieve peace between the Palestinians and Israelis and arriving at the establishment of an independent Palestinian state according to the two-state solution and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.

Discussions also focused on the latest developments in Syria and attempts to reach a comprehensive political solution that would end the bloodshed and maintain the cohesion of the country and its people.

The King highlighted Jordan’s efforts to host Syrian refugees, despite the pressure this imposes on its resources, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in this regard.

Vujanovic commended His Majesty’s reform efforts and endeavours to bring about peace and stability in the Middle East.

Also on Sunday, Vujanovic visited the tombs of King Hussein, King Abdullah I, the founder of the Kingdom, and King Talal Bin Abdullah.
