His Majesty King Abdullah II met with European Council President António Costa on Monday, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty emphasised Jordan’s commitment to building on its Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership with the European Union, noting that the Kingdom looks forward to hosting the Jordan-EU Investment Conference this coming November.

The meeting addressed key regional developments, with the King underscoring the need for the international community to step up efforts to put an end to the ongoing escalation in the region, and safeguard the security and sovereignty of Arab states.

His Majesty also warned of the dangers of Israel’s increasing violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and urged support for Lebanon and Syria’s efforts to maintain their security and the safety of their citizens.

For his part, President Costa expressed appreciation for the EU’s partnership with Jordan, and commitment to further expanding cooperation across various fields, emphasising the importance of Jordan’s role in ensuring regional stability.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.
