His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Tuesday, in presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, with a delegation representing Assistants of US Congressmen.

During the meeting, which was attended by Royal Court Minister, Planning Minister and the US Ambassador to Jordan, the King outlined Jordan's developmental march and the current situation in the region.

He noted the steps taken so far to develop the economic, educational and youth sectors.
The King also reviewed the stalled peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis and the situation in Iraq, where he affirmed Jordan's extensive efforts to reinvigorate the peace process. Peace and stability can never be realized in the region without finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue, King Abdullah told the U.S. congress officials.

"Jordan supports the Palestinian Prime Minister and the Palestinian institutions to help establish a strong Palestinian government capable negotiating peace with Israel," said the King, who warned against wasting the available opportunity to reach a comprehensive peace.

On the Iraqi cause, the King noted the dangerous situation in Iraq associated with the lack of security and stressed the need for necessary procedures to help the Iraqis run their affairs.
