King Meets US Congress Delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah II met on Tuesday
a US Congress delegation which includes Tom Defis, Jem Moran and Jane
Mary Defoltez, who represent Virginia State. The King outlined Jordan's
efforts to reinvigorate the peace process in the region and initiatives
aimed to end Palestinian-Israeli conflict through implementing the road
map peace plan.



His Majesty said his planned talks this month with U.S. President
George Bush will focus on means of re-launching the peace process and
the current situations in Iraq, as well as, on ways to boost bilateral
relations particularly in investment and economic spheres and the U.S
aid to Jordan.



King Abdullah II also met on Tuesday with Virginia Council delegation
for Information Technology, headed by Dafis currently on a visit to Jordan.



The King expressed his thanks and appreciation to the delegation
for their initiative to invest in Jordan and establish partnerships with
the private sector particularly in the educational and IT sectors.



The delegation, who met with Jordanian officials in public and private
sectors, will sign several agreements with Jordanian companies in information
technology field.



His Majesty stressed his keenness to give due attention to educational
and IT sectors and use them as tools to raise economic productivity in
Jordan of the Jordanian economy.



During the meeting, attended by Minister of the Royal Court
Sameer Refai, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Basem
Awadallah, a number of Jordanian investors and the U.S Ambassador to Amman,
King Abdullah also affirmed his keenness to further qualify Jordanian
human cadre to be more sufficient to deal with the IT companies. He noted
the steps that the Jordanian government has been taking to improve the
investment ambiance in Jordan especially despite the unfavorable circumstances
in the region.



" We are determined to take the initiative in reform and development
processes in a way that meets our people's hopes and ambitions," King
Abdullah said.



Members of the delegation paid tribute to Jordan's to promote
security and stability in the region. King Abdullah represents the hope
for the future of peace in the region.



They also hailed Jordan's accomplishment educational and IT
sectors which set a good example in the region and they expressed their
willingness to establish a long-term partnerships with the private sector
in Jordan.
