King Meets US Congress Delegation

His Majesty King Abdullah II, received at Bait Al Baraka on Sunday, a US Congress delegation currently on a tour in the region.



The King and members of the delegation, which comprised Senator, John Warner, Senator Ted Stevens and Senator Ernest Hollings, reviewed the current efforts that aim at putting the peace process back on its proper track.



King Abdullah affirmed the importance of the US's role in pushing the peace process forward, and urging the concerned parties to meet their commitments to achieve peace in the region.



His Majesty also stressed that supporting the government of the Palestinian Prime Minister, Ahmad Qurei, will contribute to reconstructing Palestinian institutions, moving forward to solving the outstanding issues with the Israelis, and returning to the negotiating table to ensure the success of the peace process.



The King also affirmed the importance of supporting the right of the Iraqi people to build a unified and independent Iraq that enjoys security and stability, and choose a national government that represents all Iraqi spectra.



The meeting was attended by Minister of the Hashemite Royal Court, Sameer Rifai, Planning and International Cooperation Minister and Acting Foreign Minister, Dr. Basim Awadallah as well as the US ambassador to Jordan.
