His Majesty King Abdullah met on Tuesday the visiting UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres and briefed him on the humanitarian situation of Iraqis residing in Jordan.

His Majesty stressed that Jordan would continue its efforts to secure suitable living standards for them in the country, providing health and educational services.

Guterres said that Jordan has been coping with a considerable burden while hosting hundreds of thousands of Iraqi nationals and deserves more help.

The UN high commissioner's pledge of support was made during an earlier meeting with the ministers of interior, planning, health, education and higher education.
