King meets with Turkmenistan President

His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday held talks with Turkmenistan President Qurban Qali Bardi Mohammedov.

King Abdullah arrived in Ashgabat as part of a several-day working tour that will also take him to Paris.

In a joint communiqué, the two sides announced a plan to open embassies in both capitals to take bilateral relations to the next level. They underlined the importance of enhancing cooperation between both countries in the fields of culture, tourism, sports and scientific research.

Jordan and Turkmenistan also agreed to draft deals in the fields of trade, education, health and transportation, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the foreign ministries in both countries.

The communique stressed that terrorism and international crime are the main threats to peace and international security, and urged cooperation in fighting the two phenomena.

The two sides also reiterated the importance of solving international conflicts through peaceful and diplomatic ways, stressing the significance of strengthening the United Nations role in solving issues concerning international peace and security.
