His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, who left Amman after a 17-day stay in the King Hussein Medical Centre where he was treated for exhaustion and dehydration and underwent medical tests.

Talabani, who was discharged from the centre yesterday, was flown to Jordan on February 25 from his hometown of Suleimaniyah after complaining of fatigue.

During the meeting, Talabani thanked the King for the hospitality he received during his stay.

King Abdullah stressed the importance of achieving security and stability in Iraq to enable it to play a vital role on the Arab and international levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also underlined the need to support efforts designed to achieve national reconciliation and ensure the participation of all segments of the Iraqi society in the political process.

They also reviewed efforts for ensuring the success of the Arab Summit slated for March 28-29 in Riyadh.

The King and Talabani said the summit was an important step towards activating coordination and consultations and enhancing solidarity among Arab countries

President Talabani reviewed efforts being exerted to stabilise Iraq, including the Baghdad conference, which was held recently with the participation of several Iraq's neighbouring countries, according to Petra. He highlighted the importance of Jordanian, Egyptian and Saudi efforts in supporting Iraqi security and stability.

Talabani said the March 10 Baghdad International Conference was a major success, adding that there was unanimous Arab support for the international regional security plan in Iraq and the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit, who saw the Iraqi president off at the airport, along with several officials, said the Kingdom would continue to support Iraq's political process and its people to bring an end to its current crisis.
