His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with Arab League secretary general Nabil Elaraby to discuss the current situation in the Arab region, mainly the Syrian crisis and efforts to bring about peace in the Middle East.
King Abdullah stressed the need to maintain coordination, cooperation and consultations among the Arab countries, especially at the critical time the region is passing through.
His Majesty reiterated Jordan's support for a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis that brings to an end the bloodshed and the suffering of the Syrian people.
The talks, attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, also covered efforts led by US secretary of state John Kerry to bring Palestinians and Israelis closer to reviving the peace process and addressing all final status issues.
The Arab League secretary general praised Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty in serving the Arab nation and its cause.
Elaraby briefed the King on Arab League efforts to enhance Arab unity and strengthen a coordinated stance on the Syrian crisis and other challenges facing the Arab nation.
