King meets representatives of Hebron tribes

His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday paid a visit to Khalil Al Rahman Charitable Society, where he met with representatives of tribes that come originally from the West Bank city of Hebron.

The tribal leaders voiced support for the King and his policies and reform plans, reasserting their allegiance to the Hashemite leadership.

His Majesty also met with delegates who came from the city to congratulate him on his birthday.

At the meeting,  Mohammad Jaabari highlighted His Majesty’s efforts in making Jordan a model of democracy and freedom. He pointed out the King’s support for the Palestinian issue and the Palestinian people in the pursuit of their legitimate right to statehood.

Jaabari, who called for efforts to prevent Israeli settlers from taking over Palestinian lands in the West Bank, voiced appreciation for the King’s efforts to safeguard holy sites in Jerusalem and thwart attempts to alter the Islamic character of the Holy City.

The Khalil Al Rahman Charitable Society president also briefed the Monarch on its activities and efforts to support the underprivileged in the fields of education and health. He added that the society, which was established in 1963 and owns four schools, continuously implements programmes to help needy families and poor students. The society, he said, employs about 250 persons under its different charitable programmes.

Jaabari noted that the society is currently building a school in Aqaba, but lacks the necessary funds to complete the project.

In a speech on behalf of female members of the Khalil Al Rahman Charitable Society, Alaa Sarah commended Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania for their efforts to empower women in Jordan.

Sarah said the society and its members back efforts aimed at preserving the stability and security of Jordan.

At the end of the meeting, Jaabari presented the Monarch with a gift on behalf of the society members.
