His Majesty King Abdullah II received in the US capital today representatives of Arab and Muslim American organisations and discussed current efforts to re-launch Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.

King Abdullah, who also met with representative of Jewish American organisations, emphasised the urgency of solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with the two-state solution, which can guarantee Israel's security and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

He said the Arab Peace Initiative offers a significant opportunity to reach a comprehensive regional peace that will meet the legitimate rights of all parties and ensure normal relations for Israel with all its Arab neighbours.

In remarks at both meetings, King Abdullah said he looked forward to meeting US President Barack Obama on Tuesday for talks on efforts to re-start Palestinian-Israeli negotiations and realize comprehensive peace to the region.
