King Meets Qureia and Burns

His Majesty King Abdullah II held on Sunday talks with Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmad Qureia on ways of pushing peace process forward and the Palestinian ideas regarding the resumption of negotiations with the Israeli side.



During the meeting which was attended by Prime Minister Faisal Fayez, Minister of the Royal Court Samir Rifa'i, Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher and the Head of Jordan Representation Office in Gaza Strip, Qureia reviewed the steps taken by the Palestinian government and the ones to be taken to pave the way for re- launching peace negotiations, particularly the measures with regard to the security file.



The King affirmed the necessity of immediate moving towards the resumption of negotiations and the fulfillment by Palestinian and Israeli sides of their obligations regarding establishing security and pushing peace process forward, noting that the continuation of settlements and working on separation fence hinder efforts of reviving negotiations and threaten peace process.



His Majesty the King will hold during this week talks with American President George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair aiming at pushing peace process forward and accelerating the implementation of roadmap.



The Palestinian Prime Minister accompanied by Senior officials presented a pack of ideas and proposals, which he said of as they create an atmosphere for resuming peace negotiations, such as the possibility of reaching a comprehensive truce.



His Majesty King Abdullah II also met US Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Affairs William Burns and discussed with him the current movements to encourage Palestinian and Israeli sides to go back to negotiations in addition to the future of situation
in Iraq.
