King meets with President of the World Bank

His Majesty King Abdullah, on Monday, met with President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, and discussed means of cementing cooperation between Jordan and the international body.
King Abdullah voiced appreciation of the World Bank for its support to Jordan in the implementation of economic and various national development plans in various sectors.
The King outlined the overall reform process pursued by Jordan, especially in the economic field and legislation hoped to reflect positively on economic development.
In this context, His Majesty stressed the need for further World Bank support to Jordan to enable the Kingdom grapple with economic hardships as a result of regional turmoil and hosting a massive influx of Syrian refugees on its territory.
Kim stressed that the international body will continue to provide technical assistance to the Kingdom in the framework of a strategic partnership between the two sides and to help the Jordanian economy to achieve sustainable growth.
Kim said: “I’ve had an excellent meeting with His Majesty the King during which we talked about the situation in the region and we are grateful to the King and the people of Jordan for hosting a large number of Syrian refugees." He added that the meeting dealt with World Bank commitments to Jordan, which included 150 million dollars and additional 60 million dollars to support a number of municipalities in the Kingdom.
He stressed that the Bank will continue to maintain full cooperation with the Kingdom: "We are looking now into the assistance the Bank will provide to Jordan this year."
