His Majesty King Abdullah II visited on Thursday the headquarters of the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg where he stressed the importance enhancing cooperation relations between Jordan and the Bank.
Upon his meeting with President and members of the Bank's board of directives, King Abdullah expressed appreciation for the Bank over supporting Jordan in implementing vital projects in the educational, mining, infrastructural fields, pointing to the Bank's support for the Jordanian private sectors.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of the Royal Court, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Jordan's ambassador to Luxembourg, the two sides discussed means to enhance future cooperation between Jordan and the Bank, and possibilities of the Bank's contributions to finance a number of projects in Jordan.
On his part, the Bank's Chairman, Phillip Maystadt, outlined the Bank's activities as well as its assistance programs, which comes within the European Union's policy to support developmental projects in the region, including Jordan.
Maystadt hailed Jordan's economic policy, which aims at developing the national economy. He also expressed the Bank's readiness to go ahead in supporting investment in Jordan.
It is noted that the Bank presented, during the year 2003, a euro 66 million grant to Jordan.
His Majesty King Abdullah II concluded on Thursday a working visit to Luxembourg.
Upon departure, the King was officially seen off by Duke Henry as well as other senior officials.
