His Majesty King Abdullah II on Tuesday stressed the significant role of the monotheistic religions to promote moral values and the spirit of loveliness and tolerance amongst nations.
During a meeting at the Royal Court with Latin Patriarch of Holy Land Michael Sabah, King Abdullah called for exerting greater concerted efforts to reinforce these noble values.
"Jordan sets a model for Islamic-Christian co-existence," King Abdullah said during the meeting, which was attended by Royal Court Minister Samir Rifai, King's Advisor for Islamic Affairs and Chief Justice Sheikh Izzeddine al-Khatib Tamimi, and King's Advisor Akel Beltaji and Latin Bishop in Jordan Salim Sayegh.
"Amman Message" highlighted the true and bright image of Islam which encourages moderation and tolerance and discards violence, extremism and fanaticism, the King noted.
Patriarch Sabah highly appreciated Jordan's efforts to care about Christian holy places in the country and paid tribute to King Abdullah's tremendous efforts to establish just and lasting peace in the region.
