His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday reiterated Jordan's support for the Palestinian National Authority in its efforts to rebuild national institutions and lift the siege imposed on the Palestinian people.

During a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman, the King said that the Palestinian cause is the core issue in the region.

His Majesty added that Peace and stability will not be achieved unless a just and permanent solution is found to the Palestinian cause based on the Arab peace initiative, and UN resolutions that include the establishment of an independent Palestinian state living side by side with Israel.

For his part, Abbas briefed His Majesty on the outcome of his talks with the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and expressed appreciation to King Abdullah's continued efforts to relaunch the peace process.
