King meets new Qatari emir in Doha

His Majesty King Abdullah paid a short visit to Doha on Wednesday to congratulate Qatar's new emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, who succeeded his father on Tuesday.

King Abdullah congratulated Sheikh Tamim and extended warmest wishes for progress, modernisation and prosperity to Qatar and its people.

During the meeting, attended by Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, His Majesty expressed keenness on enhancing Jordanian-Qatari relations to serve common interests and boost Arab and Islamic cooperation.

His Royal Higness Prince Ali and Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh accompanied the King.

Sheikh Hamad held a lunch banquet for His Majesty and the accompanying delegation, which was attended by several members of the ruling family of Qatar.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, who took the oath as Regent when the King left for Doha, received him upon his return to Amman later on Wednesday.
